Ancient Inscribed Brick Fragments from Ancient Babylon.
In the 7th century before Christ, Babylon was the seat of a great empire ruled by king Nebuchadnezzar.
GOD had allowed this mighty ruler to overthrow the nation of Israel because of her lack of faith and for turning around from HIS commandments.
For 70 years, Israel would remain captive at Babylon. Then a deliverer would come who would free them from this time of Punishment.
Babylon and its empire would fall for the ill treatment she had shown to GOD's people and for the desecrating of HIS holy temple at Jerusalem.
In time Babylon, the once great city became a mass of ruins. Inscribed bricks from her being carried away as evidence of her collapse and ruin.
