ca 19th/20th century
This portion of a larger scroll contains the text of the book by Jeremiah the prophet, of Lamentation. Originally written during the captivity of the nation of Israel beginning in 607 B.C.
Jeremiah heart wretchingly laments over Jerusalem and his peoples fate. It would not be for another 70 years, at Jehovah's decree, that the nation would resume living in their homeland after King Cyrus freed them from their captive condition.
The scroll demonstrates the fine penmenship of modern Hebrew scribes.
