A plant of which the Pharisees, careful about minute points, were scrupulously accurate in paying tithes (Luke 11:42)
It is native of the Mediterannean region. It is cultivated as a medicine, and perhaps as a condiment for food. Had it been wild it would not have been a tithable plant.
